Shaykh Abdullah Ibn Muhammad Najib Sirajuddin al-Hussaini Alayhi Rahma was a descendant of Imam Hussain bin Ali Abi Tlib on his father’s side, Shaykh Abdullah Sirajuddin was born into an honorable and pious family, on the verge of the collapse of the Ottoman Sultanate in 1923 CE. During his childhood, Shaykh Abdullah Sirajuddin was surrounded by the love and care of his father, Shaykh Muhammad Najib Sirajuddin , who was also a leading scholar of Tafsir, Fiqh, Hadith and Tasawwuf. Shaykh Abdullah Sirajuddin was known for expressing much respect, benevolence and love towards his family. It is also said that he was very enthusiastic about helping his mother in her domestic tasks. He loved his father dearly as well, and after his father passed away he always began his writings with homage.

Shaykh Abdullah Sirajuddin Alayhi Rahma was one of the Greatest ‘Ulama and Awliya of the past century and an extraordinary scholar and saint who dedicated his entire life to the service of Islam and It is without doubt that Shaykh Abdullah Sirajuddin Alayhi Rahma had an important role in defining the scholarship of Aleppo (Halab) during the past century. The Noble Shaykh was known to see the Prophet Peace Be upon Him whilst asleep and awake and one time Shaykh Abdullah Sirajuddin Alayhi Rahma saw the Prophet, upon him blessings and peace, ordered our liege lord ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib to dress the Shaykh with his cloak, and another time the Prophet himself dressed him with his noble hand, and another time the Prophet told him: “You are our dedicated servant,” after which he would say: “The Prophet is pleased to have me as his servant.” and some of The ‘Ulama have even said when the Shaykh would begin writing his books on The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) it was as if the Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) was standing in front of the Shaykh and the Shaykh was describing the Exalted Attributes and physical beauty of Rasul Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam). Shaykh Abdullah Sirajuddin was truly in love with The Best of Creation Rasul Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) and the Qutb of Damascus al-Arif Billah Shaykh Abdul Rahman Shaghouri Alayhi Rahma called him “the Pole of Prophetic love of our times.”.

There was a brother in Saudi who told Shaykh Rabbani that a friend of his was wondering for a while about how to learn more about the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). One night in his dream he saw the Prophet, and so he asked the blessed Prophet, “Ya Rasul Allah, how do I learn more about you?’

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him, “If you want to know about me, then read the book Sayyidna Muhammad Rasul Allah by Shaykh Abdullah Sirajuddin Alayhi Rahma.”

This book was banned in Saudi, so he asked the beloved Prophet where to find it as he has never heard of it. In the dream he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say, “Go to Aleppo (Halab), and you will find it.”

This man never knew who Shaykh Abdullah Sirajuddin Alayhi Rahma was, or what this book was. He went to Halab and he found out about the book; he read it and it transformed his life.

Similarly, one of The Shuyukh, a Halabi himself Shaykh Muhammad Qaylish, mentioned, ‘’I used to be a common person. I was 15 or 16 and I read this book and it transformed me. I used to take this book after ‘Isha, lock my door and sit under the light, and I used to read and cry in yearning for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I used to cry in love for the Prophet. I used to cry out of my sense of distance from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I would cry at the beauty of this man (peace and blessing be upon him). I would cry at how far I was from his radiant example. Those tears melted how I was, and it transformed me.”

Shaykh Muhammad Qaylish, when Shaykh Rabbani met him, was in his early twenties, and he was truly a remarkable man. It is as Imam Busiri said, ‘by the mention of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), do hearts come to life and sins and errors are forgiven and cast off. And I long that I live through him, content and successful, and that I meet him and have no burdens upon me. A Prophet, perfected in his qualities, until he was called the Beloved.”

Shaykh Abdullah Sirajuddin Alayhi Rahma’s Magnum Opus ‘’Our Master Muhammad Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam’’ is considered to be his best work, and this was the book that was recited to Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam in their dream and then placed onto the Kaba, The Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said ‘’put this book that Shaykh Abdullah Sirajuddin Alayhi Rahma wrote on the Kaba.’’ And many Brothers and Sisters have had many Dreams of Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam after reading this blessed book and other books authored by Shaykh Abdullah Sirajuddin Alayhi Rahma and the reports of many Ulama and Awliya who saw the Prophet with Shaykh Abdullah Alayhi Rahma on his side in their dreams are countless and many people have had dreams of Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam with Shaykh Najib Sirajuddin Alayhi Rahma sitting on one side of Rasul Allah and Shaykh Abdullah Sirajuddin Alayhi Rahma sitting on the other side of Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam.

In a time when Islam was weakened severely in many ways, one man inspired the people to return to the righteous path as no other. And even though Aleppo is the city of scholars, some said that no scholar was left in Halab (Aleppo) any longer after his passing away.

About The Book

Modern times have made it even more important that Muslims acquaint themselves with their Prophet (asws), not only for the sake of their personal spiritual development, but also for the sake of the religion as a whole. There has perhaps never been a time when the world was more in need of an authentic depiction of the Best of Creation (asws). ‘Our Master Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah (asws)’ is a unique work discussing the noble qualities and characteristics of the Final Prophet (asws) in a way that is infused with love and devotion. In the first volume of this book, the author depicts all the fine attributes of our Prophet (asws) with respect to his physical beauty, his eloquence and wisdom, his exalted status, his sublime character and his mercy (asws).

This incredible expression of Prophetic love was written by the scholar of Aleppo, Imam ‘Abdallah Sirajuddīn al-Husayni (ra), who was not only a Hafiz, a leading scholar of Hadith and exegete of the Qur’an, but also a true Saint, referred to by scholars as ‘The Pole of Prophetic Love of our Times’. His book is the product of true scholarship and virtue.

‘It is as though the Shaykh (ra) was looking directly at the Messenger of Allah (asws) before him as he wrote, deriving his beautiful expressions from the light of his (asws) countenance, so that by divine providence his insight was opened, and he grazed in the pastures of subtle secrets, uncovering the beauty and perfection of the Messenger’s (asws) character, imbibing the fragrance of the Prophetic Sunnah, bathing in the light of the Muhhammadan reality and its meanings, and tasting of its fruits, and then gathering all of these illuminations in a work so noble and rarefied that it would not be surprising if it were to be read to a sick person and so cure him.’   Shaykh Muhammad b. Yahya al-Ninowy

We pray this finds everyone well, wrapped in Allah’s mercy and steadfastly travelling the path to eternal felicity, in sha Allah.

We have translated some notes on some of the Karamat (Miracles) of the late Hafiz and Shaykh al-Islam of Aleppo, Sayyid `Abd Allah Siraj al-Din al-Hussayni al-Rifai Rahimahullah

During Rabi-ul-Awwal Sayyid Shaykh `Abd Allah Siraj al-Din travelled to al-Madinah al-Munawarah, he was going to Umrah and to visit the Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him. He stayed in al-Madinah al-Munawarah for a while by the order of the Prophet Peace Be Upon Him who he would frequently see in Dreams and Awake and he wouldn’t do anything without the Prophets permission, he was happy to visit the Prophet Peace Be Upon Him, when someone asked him about his situation he would say Alhamdulillah, I am happy to be next to the Prophet Peace Be Upon Him.

Some of Sayyid Abd Allahs poetry:

And I said if I stayed in  al-Madinah al-Munawarah by the luminance of the prophet,

Oh heart good tidings to you you have returned and this is the house of the Ahbab we have gathered.

Cant you see the smell that is coming out from Tayba and the light,

So live happy with those you have travelled with,

And testify by the beauty of whom his luminance struck the eyes of the people (the Prophet) Peace Be Upon Him

He also used to say:

If your neighbour was not valued, and was healthy and in no harm, so how about the situation of the one who visits the Prophet Peace Be Upon Him.

The Prophet praised al-Madinah and made Dua for its inhabitants, and alleviated the hardships from it, and the Prophet Promised the Martyrdom and Shafa’a for those who visited him there or died there, These are from different Hadiths.

I have heard many Karamat from him and have witnessed in dreams and by the tongues of the Lovers from al-Madinah and others.

I will tell some of them and the details in a book in shaa’ Allah, One of them is that he saw that he was accepted by writing on the Ka’aba. He was accepted by Allah and he saw that he entered the Prophets mosque from Bab-us-Salaam and many Awliya greeted him, they sat him in an area that was big and also one time he saw that Sayyidah Fatima had her cloak and her cloak was large. A voice was heard saying: he who will put his head under this cloak will attain peace and happiness, so Shaykh Abd Allah walked towards it and and they looked at each other. He put the cloak all over his body. During that time voices were shouting “he has won” he has won” “he has won”

One time he saw the Prophet, upon him blessings and peace, ordered our liege lord ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib RadiAllahu Anhu to dress the Shaykh with his cloak, and another time the Prophet himself dressed him with his noble hand, and another time the Prophet told him: “You are our dedicated servant,” after which he would say: “The Prophet is pleased to have me as his servant.”

Many years Passed in al-Madinah because he was teaching and writing books and worshipping, he longed to serve in al-Madinah. He initiated Quran schools and many have benefited from him. It is until this day the Scholars are teaching from his teachings any many students graduate Alhamdulillah.

He used to visit the Prophets mosque to pray there a lot and also to visit his grave. He would enter from Bab-us-Salaam and would face the Rawda, and would pray and leave with respect to the Prophet and stand in front of the grave and stare at it. He would say Salawat many times and make Dua until he was given permission to leave, he left with good manners as well and he left the same way he came.

One time a man who took care of the Mosque followed him to outside the Mosque, he followed him to kiss his hand, but the Shaykh out of his humbleness did not let him as he was in the land of the Prophet. This man said the Shaykh” Wallah I saw light come out of the Hujra and stretch towards you and followed you” “that’s why I followed you to seek Baraka from you” the Shaykh then made Dua for him.

His lessons always contained Dhikr and good manners It was narrated that Imam Malik Rahimahullah would walk in al-Madina barefoot and would not ride an animal and if he was to perform the excretions, he would go to the outskirts of al-Madina because of his good manners and if he wanted to converse in the Prophets mosque he would make Wudu and put perfume and wear new clothes and wore a Turban when he would narrate he would be very emotional.R

Our Shaykh did not return to Aleppo until he got his permission from the prophet Peace Be Upon Him

From the Shaykhs habit he would before he goes to bed make Tabaruk by the relics of the prophet and face the Qibla and would wipe his eyes and face and his head and his chest then give it to the others with him from his children and relatives and students. He would start making Dua and say poetry:

To you I give you my longing hand and who enters it will be satisfied

I ask you oh Allah by the shafa’a of the Prophet who I love.

And also if the shaykh became ill, or complained of pain, he would get the relic of the Prophet and wipe on that area and make Dua and by the will of Allah it would cure

And this relic is a Hair of the prophet from his beard passed down generations with a lineage tree he received from it from Sayyid Shaykh Muhammad Najib Siraj al-Din and my grandfather Hajj Muhammad Tatriyy Rahimahullah received it from Shaykh Awni Khalasiyy Rahimahillah and gifted it to Sayyid Muhammad Najib and has a chain leading to the Prophet and it is placed with the hair. The hair is placed in glass in some wax and in a gold case. It says the shahada written on it. The case is covered with green cloth and has beautiful smell naturally the Shaykh would glorify this relic and would place it on the uppermost portion of his office.

Before is death he would not leave his home because he didn’t have permission from the Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him and the day he passed away he got permission and It rained in al-Madina al-Munawara on the day he passed away in 2002

Dr. Shihab al-Din Farfur said in his elegiac poem (ratha’) which he read for the first time at a gathering after the passing of Shaykh Abd Allah: “Messenger of Allah, I send the expression of my sadness [at the passing of our teacher] to you, and we have no other request than meeting you.” He said he composed it after he gifted the Fatiha to the Shaykh, whereupon he received its inspiration. Indeed, such a line itself seems straight from the mouth of Shaykh Siraj al-Din.

These are our teachers and fathers in the Religion, and even the stone pillars around them could tell you most eloquently: If, after you sit with them attentively, you can boast of better living examplars at these two levels, point them out to us so that we may travel to them on the apples of our eyes and kiss their feet. Otherwise, leave us in peace with them for they are the testament of the Prophet, upon him blessings and peace, concerning the people of Shaam.
